Abstract

This study has two objectives. Firstly, researchers have elaborated the multicultural citizenship character based pillars of Indonesian consensus, as was articulated by the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) of the Republic of Indonesia in the Islamic high schools (Madrasah Aliyah), mainly since the enactment of the Curriculum 2006 in Civics Lesson. Second, the results of the acquisition of a model of coaching effectiveness has been categorized based on the components of competency of civic education in schools as adopted in the prevailing paradigm of civic education. The main problem is how Islamic values and the national character building integrated by the Civic Education Subject at the Madrasah. The study has been conducted through focus group discussions with civic teachers of Madrasah Aliyah at Yogyakarta Province. The finding out the research documented the good-practice the integrating the Islamic and nationalism values by civic characters in the Madrasah. The result of this research is the formulation of a model-based character building multicultural citizenship national values as well as Islamic values.
