Abstract

AN EXPLORATORY STUDY OF ECONOMICS TEACHERS’ COMPETENCIES IN ECONOMICS LEARNING BASED ON CURRICULUM 2013 AT SMAN 1 MUNTILAN, MAGELANG REGENCY By: DESY MAYASARI 10404244009 ABSTRACT This study aims to investigate economics teachers’ competencies: First, economics teachers’ competencies in economics learning based on Curriculum 2013. Second, economics teachers’ personal competency in economics learning based on Curriculum 2013. Third, economics teachers’ professional competency in economics learning based on Curriculum 2013. Fourth, economics teachers’ social competency in economics learning based on Curriculum 2013. Fifth, economics teachers’ pedagogic competency in economics learning based on Curriculum 2013. This was an exploratory study employing the quantitative descriptive approach. The research population comprised students of Grades X and XI with a total of 224 students. The sample was selected by means of the stratified proportional random sampling technique. The sample comprised students of Grades X and XI with a total of 135 students. The data collecting technique was a questionnaire to collect data on competencies of economics teachers’ of Grades X and XI in economics learning based on Curriculum 2013. Observations were conducted to collect data on economics learning processes in Grades X and XI based on Curriculum 2013. The data were analyzed using the descriptive statistics. The result of the study are as follows: First, the competencies of economics teachers’ of Grades X and XI according to the students’ assessment are good. Based on the results of the observations, the competencies of economics teachers’ of Grades X and XI are good. Second, the personal competency of economics teachers’ of Grades X and XI according to the students’ assessment is good. Third, the professional competency of economics teacher of Grade X according to the students’ assessment is moderately good, and that of the economics teacher of Grade XI is good. Fourth, the social competency of economics teachers’ of Grades X and XI according to the students’ assessment is good. Fifth, the pedagogic competency of economics teacher of Grade X according to the students’ assessment is moderately good, and that of the economics teacher of Grade XI is good.
