Abstract

This study aims at determining whether there is a correlation between motor perception ability and students’ achievement motivation towards the outcome of physical education, whether individually or in group. This study used the survey method. The populations were the students of SLTP Negeri 4 Tempel, Sleman Regency. The samples were the students of SLTP Negeri 4 Tempel grade 2 who were registered in the academic year of 2001/2002. There were 66 students taken as the samples and the samples were taken using simple random sampling. The data were collected using two main instruments namely, 1) motor perception ability test, and 2) questionnaires on achievement motivation. In addition, the documentation was used to gain the data of students’ learning outcomes. The results of this study show that there were positive relations between 1) motor perception ability with the physical education learning outcomes, with the correlation coefficient of 0.573, 2) achievement motivation with the physical education learning outcomes, with the correlation coefficient of 0.680, and 3) there were positive relations among motor perceptions, achievement motivation, and physical education learning outcomes with the correlation coefficient of 0.613. The regression model used was Y = 23.95 + 0.3083.X2
