Abstract

Work-based learning through industrial work practices has not been able to provide students with maximum work experience, because the type of work provided to students is irrelevant to their skill program. This study aims to: (1) Produce a Work-Based Mobile Learning (WBML) model suitable for vocational schools with computer engineering and informatics programs. (2) Describe the feasibility of implementing the integrated Work Based Mobile Learning model developed for vocational students in the computer and informatics engineering expertise program. (3) Reveal the effectiveness of the Work-Based Mobile Learning (WBML) model in vocational schools in information and communication technology expertise. This research is a research and development (Research & Development) using the Borg and Gall model. The research was conducted in vocational and industrial high schools in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The subjects in this study were SMK students, SMK teachers, and student supervisors in the industry. The test design uses a randomized pretest-posttest control group design. Data is collected with inventory, observation sheets, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Content validation analysis is carried out with expert judgment. Data were analyzed with descriptive analysis and Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) using the help of the spss.22 computer program. The results showed that; (1) The resulting WBML model development product is in the form of a learning model that is integrated by a work-based learning management application so that the learning process in the industry can be planned and structured with teachers, in addition to that teachers can provide guidance quickly to help students understand the work procedures to be carried out. The learning model developed is feasible for vocational high school computer and network engineering study programs. This is based on an assessment carried out by experts on the developed model and based on the evaluation by students involved in the research, (2) the work-based mobile learning model is carried out using applications as a learning management platform to facilitate the planning and implementation of learning in the industry. Which is planned and structured with the guidance teacher from the school. Planning includes the work of the student to be done. The planning results are compiled in the form of a learning implementation plan— students in the industry coordinate with teachers and mentors through mobile learning tools that have been developed. Assessments, consultations, and mentoring of students are also carried out online. (3) The results of the study concluded that the work-based mobile learning model developed in vocational high schools is more effectively used than the Work-based learning model of Industrial Practice in SMK, which has been carried out with effectiveness in skill and knowledge aspects with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, and in the attitude aspect with a significance value of 0.002 < 0.05.
