Abstract
This study was conducted to: (1) identify the teaching materials needed by teachers to teaching an adaptive behavior; self-care for MDVI students comorbid with intellectual disabilities, (2) develop a proper task analysis-based materials to teach MDVI students an adaptive skill; self-care, (3) develop a task analysis-based teachers’ materials that effectively improves MDVI students’ adaptive behavior. This study adopted ADDIE research and development mode. Some experts were involved, including content expert, media expert, teachers and MDVI students. Four teachers and four MDVI students from SDLB early grade in SLB N 2 Padang, YPPLB Tunanetra Payakumbuh, SLB N Alahan Panjang and SLBN 1 Padang Panjang participated as the subjects of this study. Data of this study were collected through interviews, questionnaires, comprehension test, and performance test. Data analysis was carried out with quantitative descriptive which is presented in graphic form. Improved teacher understanding of teaching adaptive behavior and increased ability of MDVI student self-care skills performance was seen using the Normalized Gain Test. The results of this study showed that: (1) teachers needed systematic teaching materials, detailed task analysis, attractive books and materials that can guide them in teaching self-care as an adaptive behavior for MDVI students. The properness of the product as validated by the first content expert, second content expert, first media expert, second media expert were 4.02 (Good), 4.60 (Very Good), 4.35 (Very Good), and 4.92 (Very Good) respectively. The product developed in this study was also confirmed effective to apply as seen from the average improvement in the teachers’ comprehension test by 30%, and students’ self-care skill by 31.25%.
