Abstract

This study aims to (1) develop an appropriate interactive learning multimedia to improve the activeness and motivation to learn of grade IV students of elementary schools in Cakranegara District, (2) reveal the effectiveness of the developed multimedia in improving the activeness and motivation to learn of grade IV students of elementary schools in Cakranegara District. This research is research and development applying Borg & Gall 10 (1983) stage model of product development. Product feasibility tests were carried out by the validation of media experts and validation of material experts. The trial subjects were grade IV students of elementary schools in Cakranegara District, Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara. The data were collected using questionnaires and through interviews and observations. Data collection instruments included interview guides, needs analysis questionnaires, expert validation questionnaires, student and teacher response questionnaires, and observation guidelines. The feasibility test of the interactive learning multimedia used assessment scale with four assessment categories. The effectiveness test of the interactive learning multimedia was analyzed using the t-test and MANOVA hypothesis testing at the significance level of 0.05. The results of the study show that (1) the developed interactive learning multimedia meets the “feasibility” criteria based on the assessment of media experts and material experts, meets the “very feasible” criteria based on the assessment of the teacher response questionnaire, and meets the “feasible” criteria based on the assessment of the student response questionnaire; (2) the developed interactive learning multimedia is effective in improving the activeness and motivation to learn of grade IV students of elementary schools in Cakranegara District, Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara. The results of the t-test and the MANOVA hypothesis testing at the significance level of 0.05 show that the developed interactive learning multimedia can significantly improve the activeness and motivation to learn of grade IV students of elementary schools in Cakranegara District the significance level of 0.000 < 0.05.
