Abstract

The purposes of this study are to 1) produce an Android-assited Virtual Laboratory Application that meets the eligibility criteria, and 2) check the effectiveness of the Android-assited Virtual Laboratory Application produced to improve concepts understanding of human’s respitory system and process skills of the 5th-grade students in Kotagede District. The research method of this study is Research and Development which refers to the 10 steps developed by Borg & Gall. The subject of the trial was the 5th-grade students in Kotagede District. The data collection used interviews, observation, questionnaires, and tests. The data analysis techniques used were descriptive analysis, t-test, and MANOVA test. The result showed that 1) the Android-assited Virtual Laboratory Application that was produced met the eligibility criteria based on the validation by a media expert and a material expert as well as teacher responses and student responses with feasible categories; and 2) the Android-assited Virtual Laboratory Application produced was effective to improve the concepts understanding of human’s respitory system and student’s process skills based on t-test and MANOVA test which significantly improved at a significance less than 0.05
