Abstract

This study aims to reveal differences in effectiveness: (1) Determining the effectiveness of the Make A Match learning model compared to the expository learning model on the conceptual understanding and problem-solving abilities of FPB / KPK in grade IV SD students; and (2) Knowing the effectiveness of the Jigsaw learning model compared to the expository learning model on the conceptual understanding and problem-solving abilities of the fourth-grade students of FPB / KPK. This study used quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group design pattern. The subjects in this study were fourth-grade students of SDN Terbansari I Yogyakarta and grade IV students at SDN Demangan Yogyakarta. Data were collected through tests and observations. The data collection instruments used were multiple-choice test guidelines for concept understanding, problem-solving description tests, and learning process observation sheets. The validity and reliability of the test instruments were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 for windows software with the Product Moment correlation formula for validity and Cronbach's Alpha for reliability. The assumption test used is the normality test with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov formula and the homogeneity test with the Levene test. The hypothesis test used is the independent sample t-test with a significance level of 0.05. All tests use the help of SPSS 22.0 for windows software. The results of this study are as follows. (1) the Make A Match learning model is more effective than the expository learning model for students' ability to understand concepts and solve FPB / KPK problems; and (2) the Jigsaw learning model is more effective than the expository learning model for students' ability to understand concepts and solve FPB / KPK problems.
