Abstract

This study aims to: (1) determine the effect of the TPS model on the attitude of responsibility (2) find out the effect of the TPS model on social studies material mastery, (3) determine the effect of the STAD model on the attitude of responsibility, (4) know the effect of the STAD model on the mastery of social studies material, (5) find out the different effect on the attitude of responsibility of students who are given learning by using the TPS and STAD models, (6) know the different effect on the mastery of social studies material of students who are given learning by using the TPS and STAD models, (7) determine the different effect of the TPS and STAD models on the attitude of responsibility and mastery of social studies material of fourth grade students. This research was a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental type by using a pre-test-post-test non-equivalent control group design model. The population in this study were all fourth grade students of state elementary schools included in cluster of 4 Mlati District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta. The sample selection technique was carried out by using cluster random sampling with the results of Sendangadi I State Elementary School on class A used the TPS model, Sendangadi I State Elementary School on class B used the STAD model and Mlati I State Elementary School as the control class used the conventional model. The instruments in the research included a questionnaire on student responsibility attitudes, questions about students' mastery of social studies material and learning observation guidelines. The description of the data was done by average of analysis through the N-Gain test. Hypothesis testing was carried out by using ANOVA test, MANOVA test and Post Hoc test as a form of further test. The results obtained are: (1) the TPS model has an effect on students' responsibility attitudes, (2) the TPS model has an effect on students' mastery of social studies material, (3) the STAD model has an effect on students' responsibility attitudes, (4) the STAD model has an effect on mastery of students' social studies material, (5) there is a significant difference in the attitude of responsibility of students who are given the TPS and STAD models, (6) there is no significant difference in the effect of mastery on social studies material of students who are given the TPS and STAD models, (7) there is a different effect of the application of the TPS and STAD models on the attitude of responsibility.
