Abstract

This research aims to identify crisis on certain stage of development on Pat, the healing process that is occur on him to cure his trauma, and the impact of his failure on his marriage as the crisis toward his next stage of development. This research is aqualitative research employing content analysis method. The data of this research are expressions taken from Matthew Quick’s The Silver Linings Playbook which have correlation with the objectives of the research. The data collection is conducted by reading the source of the data comprehensively and taking some notes of important expressions which is related to the topic. Since this is a qualitative research, there searcherwas the primary instrument to this research, while the table sheets were these condary instruments. To ensure the data trustworthiness, the researcher also conducted proof reading method to check the data relevance. The findings of the research show that there is a crisis on certain stage of psychosocial of development that leads him to experience a trauma. Second finding shows that there are for types of healing that experiencing by Pat: safety and stabilization, remembrance, reconnection and reconciliation. The researcher also found that Pat experiencing some obstacle to continue to the stage generativity and stagnation. The findings of the study conclude that Pat’s trauma is a result of his failure on the step of intimacy vs. isolation of his psychosocial stage of development. His failure on his marriage with Nikki affects his next stage of psychosocial development. Thus, to be able to continue the next stage of development, Pat has to deal with trauma healing
