Abstract
This paper raised the importance of the character identification of each students before starting teaching learning process at junior high school. As we know that, students come from different families and environments background. These forms influenced their characters into adulthood, so it is necessary to know their characters. The goal of this assessment is the character of each student can be identify in the begining when students entry the school, so the teacher can understand how to treat each student in the class based on their character. The Character identificationof each student is done by assessing the character of the new students who entered SMPK Generasi Unggul Kupang. Character assessment conducted by a test, either in writing or by interview. The result shows that each student has a different character and its influeced by their relation with their friends and also teachers. In addition, the teacher was able to understand the character of each student before continuing the learning process even further. Teachers can prepare specific measures as the approach to each student. Teachers can evaluate the character development of each student regularly. This study will support the implementation of the curriculum 2013 that emphasis on the balance in learning, so the achievement is not only determined by the academic point of view but also moral and character.
