Abstract

The study aims to develop and produce the products such misconceptions detector instruments subjects in chemical bonding (IPMIK) for the high school students. This product is obtained from expert judgment used Forum Group Discussion (FGD). The Item Response Theory used analyzes (IRT) test three parameters feasibility continued use of the product in the field. The study is designed as a research of development model of procedural. The research instrument is a multiple choice test with half open reasons. Each item test consists of four components, namely: core questions, main option, reason option, and commentary option. The initial product IPMIK I is validated use expert judgment with FGD techniques. The FGD involved experts in chemistry, chemical education, misconceptions, and psychometrics. The FGD also involves reviewer from chemical education lecturer and high school chemistry teacher in DIY. The result of FGD is a consideration to make the product IPMIK II. The validated empirically instruments is used high school students from five districts in the DIY. Data is analyzed used IRT three-parameter with BILOG Multi Group software. The study findings are developed IPMIK already successfully for high school students. The initial product is IPMIK I which consists of 30 test items that have been validated through expert judgment using FGD techniques. A total of 30 test items have been revised to product IPMIK II. The empirical validation test on 811 high school students in Class XI from 13 high schools in DIY. The test obtained 20 items fit is used IRT three-parameter analysis.
