Abstract

This research is triggered by the minimum information on how far the athletes understand of the rules of the game. This study intends in figuring out the level of understanding of the water polo athletes of DIY about the rules of the game. This research was the descriptive one. The method used was survey data retrieval technique with a questionnaire. The population in this study was all male and female water polo athletes of DIY with the total of 40 athletes. The sampling technique employed in this research was the total sampling with 40 male and female athletes. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis set forth in the form of a percentage. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the level of understanding of the water polo athletes DIY on the rules of the game is in some categories 10 athletes or at 25% are in the category of "low", 24 athletes or at 60% belong to the category of "medium”, and 6 athletes or at 15% are included into the category of “good”. So it can be concluded that the level of understanding of water polo athletes from DIY on the rules of the game is in the category of “medium”.
