Abstract
Religion and nationalism face a very serious challenge in this global era. The development of information technology play a role spreading the ideologies that come from materialism, liberlism, and globalism, paved state boundaries, so that religion and nationalism gradually been eroded from the soul the younger generation. This short paper aims to reveal how the relation between religion and nationalism in the global era, particularly in view of the students in Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Tempel, Yogyakarta. The study was conducted through quantitative descriptive study. Students were sampled totaling 230 students, includes grades 1 to 3 are taken proportionally. Data collected by the attitude Likert scale and study the document. Data were analyzed by using Anova one lane and Analysis Product Moment. The results showed that (1) students generally have the attitude of nationalism at the middle level, this is indicated by the average score of the attitude of nationalism = 59. Students who have a high nationalism, only 16%. Students in general do not realize that the use of information technology as a means globalization of various aspects of life has eroded the values of nationalism, (2) students have different attitudes nationalism at every level / grade, the higher the level the higher the nationalism, and (3) there is a positive and significant correlation between achievement religious nationalism of the students. The higher the student achievement religious instruction, the higher the attitude of nationalism. Keywords: religion, nationalism, students, global era
