Abstract
This research aims to reveal a problem about PAI learning in UNY and its role to build character culture among the students. This is a qualitative descriptive research. The data is obtained through interviews, questionnaires, and documentations and analyzed using qualitative analysis techniques with the inductive approach. The results showed that PAI learning has an important role to build character culture of the students, if supported by competent lecturers, good input, adequate materials, and good processes. Conversely, if the support is not met, this goal will be difficult to materialize. Among the problems are diverse student abilities, student attention to the character is less, PAI learning materials were emphasized to cognitive aspects, and it is difficult to control students outside lectures.
