Abstract
This study aims to describe: (1) service in the Perpustakaan Alternatif Wilayah Selatan of Yogyakarta City, (2) the effectiveness of the service in the Perpustakaan Alternatif Wilayah Selatan of Yogyakarta City in terms of service quality. The type of research used is quantitative research with a descriptive approach. The population of this research is the visitors in the Perpustakaan Alternatif Wilayah Selatan of Yogyakarta City. The determination of the number of samples using the Slovin formula with an error rate of 0.1 and n = 4.639. The number of research samples is 98 respondents with the determination of respondents using random sampling techniques. Data collection techniques using the questionnaire, observation, documentation, and interviews. The validity and data analysis techniques used validity and reliability tests with SPSS 19.0 and Microsoft Excel 2010 programme, then analyzed by quantitative descriptive. The results of the study show: 1) there are various services in the Perpustakaan Alternatif Wilayah Selatan of Yogyakarta City which is provided for visitors ranging from special services for children to the elderly, the general public, as well as students and lecturers; 2) the services in the Perpustakaan Alternatif Wilayah Selatan of Yogyakarta City are seen from the quality of services including the effective category (with an average score of 84%
