Abstract

This research aims to describe (1) The process of selecting new students with special needs slow learner, (2) Placement arrangement for students with special needs slow learner in the class, (3) Mentoring students with special needs slow learner in the learning process, (4) Availability of supporting facilities for students with special needs slow learner in the learning process. This research is qualitative descriptive research. The subjects are headmaster, a regular teacher, and a mentor teacher especially in assisting students with needs slow learner. Data were collected by taking interview, observation, and documentation methods. Source triangulation technique was used as data validity test. The data analysis was using qualitative descriptive method such as: data collection, data reduction, narrative data presentation and then drawing conclusions. The result of this research show that: (1) The selection process for new students with special needs does not have an age restriction, was found there is a new student at 9 years old. (2) Baciro Elementary School has applied various kinds of placement arrangements for students with special needs slow learner in the class by adjusting the learning materials and teaching methods which is every kinds has goals for the students with special needs. (3) Mentoring is carried out in general by taking an individual approach by the teacher explaining to every students with special needs slow learner who does not understand the learning materials. (4) The supporting facilities still are still available in general, but not specifically available yet for students with special needs slow-learner.
