Abstract
This research aims to describe the implementation of supervising reading interest for students through Angkringan Buku in MAN 1 Yogyakarta library. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive approach. The subjects of this research are one librarian, one employee of Angkringan Buku and five visitors of Angkringan Buku. The data collection technique used in this research are interview, observation, and documentation study. The data validity is verivied using the source triangulation and technique triangulation. Then, the data analysis technique is done by using interactive model. The results showed as follows. (1) supervising reading interest through Angkringan Buku is already known and approved by the headmaster, the deputy head of public relation, the administration staffs, the librarians, and the students of MAN 1 Yogyakarta. The Angkringan Buku is implemented based on Constitution No 20 in 2003, Constitution No 43 in 2007, and internal regulation of Madrasah (Islamic school) about library development. (2) The infrastructures of the Angkringan Buku are collection of reading books published regularly such as magazines, ball tabloid, and newspapers, angkringan stall, reading tables and chairs, guest list, wall magazine, trash bin, and a small garden. (3) The goal of the Angkringan Buku is to facilitate the students to read during short amount of time, only during the first recess time and the second recess time by giving them reading service and photocopy service. (4) The targets of the Angkringan Buku are already in accordance with what the librarians wanted. The targets are the people in MAN 1 Yogyakarta, expecially students and guests who visit the school. (5) There is one staff of Angkringan Buku selected based on criteria of a librarian and he is responsible to handle the reference service. (6) The existence of angkringan buku is enough to develop reading interest and to form reading practice of students. Students’ need of information and reading are fulfilled enough because of the Angkringan Buku. This Angkringan Buku is not always crowded, but there are certainly visitors everyday. (7) The staff of angkringan buku is responsible to control the visitors by using visitor control book and also occasionally check the Angkringan Buku. Moreover, there is reguation of angkringan buku to manage the visitors.
