Abstract

This study aims to find: (1) the effect of father involvement on prosocial behavior in children aged 5-6 years old in Kapanewon Kretek, (2) the effect of father involvement on emotion regulation in children aged 5-6 years old in Kapanewon Kretek. This study used a quantitative approach with the type of ex post facto. The sample in this study 183 fathers and 183 children aged 5-6 years old in Kapanewon Kretek. The sampling technique used were cluster proportional random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability through content validity and empirical validity tests. While, internal reliability tests used were Cronbach's Alpha formula. The data analysis technique used was simple linear regression analysis. The results of the study are described as follow: (1) there is a positive and significant influence between father's involvement on prosocial behavior in children aged 5-6 years old in Kapanewon Kretek. It can be seen from the results of the t-test with the t-count value (12.056) > t-table (1.973) and the significance is 0.000 <0.05. The value of determination (R2) is 0.445, which means that the involvement of fathers in the prosocial behavior of children 5-6 years old has an influence of 44.5%. (2) There is a positive and significant influence between father's involvement on emotion regulation in children aged 5-6 years old in Kapanewon Kretek show in the result of the t-test with a t-count value (17.047)> t table (1.973) and a significance of 0.000 <0.05. The value of determination (R2) is 0.134, meaning that father involvement affects emotion regulation is 13.4%.
