Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of working mother care on early childhood independence and to find out the effect of working mother care on early childhood confidence. This study was a quantitative approach with the ex-post facto type. It was conducted in Depok Subdistrict, Sleman, Yogyakarta with a total sample of 103 children aged 4-5 years. The sample were determined using the purposive sampling technique. The research instrument were using questionnaire. The validity test involved theoretical validity and empirical validity calculated with Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Reliability was calculated using Alpha Cronbach technique. The data analysis used the simple regression analysis. The results show that the effect of parenting working mother on children’s independence is 2,9%, the effect of parenting working mothers on children’s confidence is 9%. This shows that the effect of parenting by working mothers on children's independence and self-confidence is very small. Therefore, it can be concluded that the independence and self-confidence of children can be influenced by the care of working mothers even though the effect is very small, meaning that there are many other factors besides the care of working mothers that can affect the independence and confidence of children.
