Abstract

This study aims to (1) analyze the need to improve pre-reading skills in children aged 5-6 years, (2) produce a model of cooperative learning-based learning type picture and picture that is appropriate for children aged 5-6 years, and ( 3) to determine the effectiveness of the learning model of pre-reading based on picture type cooperative learning. This research is a research and development (R&D) type of research that uses the Borg & Gall development model. The research development implementation design used is grouped into 3 development procedures, namely: (1) Preliminary Study, (2) Development, and (3) Product Validation. The subject of limited trials was carried out on 2 Kindergarten teachers, including TK Khalifah 3 Makassar and TK Pertiwi DWP Sulsel. Field tests and effectiveness tests were carried out on 100 children and 5 teachers from Al-Abrar Islamic Kindergarten, Al- Izhar Cendekia Islamic Kindergarten, Shandy Putra Telkom Kindergarten, Teratai UNM Kindergarten, and Melati TK DWP UNM. Data collection techniques used validation sheets, teacher response questionnaires, and observations / observations. The data analysis technique for the effectiveness test used was Paired Samples Test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that: (1) in improving pre-reading skills in children aged 5-6 years, a learning model that can stimulate reading skills is needed, (2) a learning model based on cooperative learning which has been developed can be viewed from its feasibility The syntax, material and language are in the "Very Good" category, (3) the development of the model used has an effectiveness in using learning to improve reading skills at the beginning because the t-test results obtained are sig (p) <0.05, which means that there is a significant change between children's abilities before and after being given treatment or treatment.
