Abstract

This study aims to: (1) produce classroom guidance service material in the career field according to the needs of class VIII students of Yogyakarta City Junior High School and (2) determine the feasibility of classroom guidance service material in the career field according to material experts and guidance and counseling practitioners. This research was a research and development adapted from the Dick & Carey development model which includes the following stages: identification of service objectives, analysis of service materials, identification of student characters, formulating special objectives, developing service instruments, developing service strategies, developing service materials, planning evaluation of processes and results, as well as revisions of service materials. This study involved 351 grade VIII students from 16 State Junior High Schools in Yogyakarta City. The assessment of the feasibility of the product developed involved two material experts in the field of guidance and counseling. Data analysis was carried out quantitatively with inferential statistical techniques and qualitatively with interactive analysis from Miles & Hubberman. The results of the study show that: 1) The product in the study is in the form of classroom guidance service materials in the career field according to the needs of students of class VIII student at Yogyakarta City State Junior High School which consists of 5 service topics with the following material details: success with understanding one's own abilities, creativity in entrepreneurship, ability to make career decisions, study continued after junior high school, the character of a young and successful entrepreneur. 2) The product is feasible to use based on the validation of two material experts with an average score of 85% which is in the very good category. And based on the response of practitioner of eight Guidance and Counseling teachers with an average score of 87% including in the very good category. Thus, it can be concluded that the classroom guidance service material in the career sector for class VIII students at Yogyakarta City State Junior High School is feasible to use.
