Abstract

The purpose of this study: (1) develop an appropriate metacognitive strategy e-module to help junior high school students in South Cilacap District improve their self-regulated learning. (2) Testing the effectiveness of employing e-module media to teach metacognitive strategies to junior high school students in the South Cilacap District. This study was conducted in Junior High School grade VIII in the South Cilacap sub-District. This is a research and development (R&D). By following the ADDIE development model's five stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This study enrolled 40 students in the eighth grade from the South Cilacap sub-District and 6 guidance and counseling teachers. The study’s findings indicate: (1) The developed E-module is classified as “Very Appropriate” for usage as a supporting media to promote junior high school students’ self-regulated learning, as determined by media and material experts. According to the material expert’s assessment, it falls into the very appropriate category with a score of 90.28, and according to the media expert’s assessment, it falls into the very appropriate category with a score of 80.56. (2) E-modules are successful as supporting media for learning activities, as evidenced by the self- regulated learning of junior high school students as measured by the Pretest and Posttest findings from the experimental and control groups. The experimental group’s pretest and posttest findings revealed an N-Gain Score of 0.73 and an N- Gain Percentage of 73 percent, both of which were classified as High and Effective. The control group’s pretest and posttest findings indicated an N-Gain Score of 0.57 and an N-Gain Percentage of 57 percent, which were classified as Medium and Fairly Effective. Based on the Independent Sample Test results, which show a difference in the Mean N-Gain-Score between the experimental and control groups of Sig 0.000 < 0.05, it may be inferred that there is a difference in the Mean N- Gain-Score between the experimental and control groups. Thus, it can be concluded that the “appropriate and effective” metacognitive method e-module is used to improve junior high school students’ self-regulated learning.
