Abstract
Donald Super's career counseling is one of the methods in guidance and counseling services. Donald Super's career counseling has been proven to be effective on career adaptation variables, increasing students' career attitudes, self- esteem, and others, but its effect on self-efficacy and career commitment of students is not yet known. The study aims to determine the effectiveness of Donald Super's career counselling on the variables of self-efficacy and career commitment of university guidance and counselling students in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. This study used experimental quantitative research with a research design of Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population of this study were 20 students with an age range of 20 - 22 years of guidance and counseling departments in the Special Region of Yogyakarta who had low and moderate levels of self- efficacy and career commitment. The entire population were used as research sample. The samples were divided into 2 groups, namely the experimental group of 10 students and the control group of 10 students. Data were collected using a self- efficacy and career commitment psychological scale of students which was validated through expert judgment and product moment validity tests. The results of the validity test obtained 23 valid items and 4 failed items on the self-efficacy scale and no items failed on the career commitment scale, with a reliability value of 0.931. Data analysis was carried out by using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test analysis. The results show that the p value in the experimental group was 0.012. The p value in the control group was 0.286. Based on these results, it can be concluded that Donald Super's career counselling has positive effect on self-efficacy and career commitment of guidance and counselling students. The organizers of Guidance and Counseling Study Program can conduct programs to increase self- efficacy and career commitment through Donald Super's career counseling services by focusing on self-concept so that students are able to explore career potential to improve career abilities. In addition, the implementing unit for guidance and counseling services can apply Donald Super's career counseling in providing services to students so that problems related to self-efficacy and career commitment can be resolved.
