Abstract

The research aims to develop a feasible media named SIKAP based on the Android operating system to overcome academic anxiety of junior high school students in Bantul Regency. The research utilized the Borg & Gall (2003) research and development model consisting of seven stages including initial research, planning, initial product development, initial main field trials, and final product. The research was started by conducting initial research to analys the needs, planning through Focus Group Discussion (FGD), product development and product validation, field try out through questionnaire of teachers’ responses. The feasibility of content materials and media was assessed through validation scale by material expert and media expert, a guidance and counseling teachers’ response questionnaire and an academic anxiety scale. The validation method for content and media material was carried out by the expert judges. The feasibility of initial field trial was conducted by two guidance and counseling teachers, while the feasibility of the main field trials was carried out by six guidance and counseling teachers through teachers’ response questionnaire. All data in this research were analyzed by using a descriptive quantitative technique. The result shows that the product of the research is in the form of a media named SIKAP based on the Android operating system which has four menus consisting of objectives, materials, tutorials, and scale to overcome academic anxiety of junior high school students in Bantul Regency. The product feasibility results show that SIKAP receives a percentage of 92.5% with excellent category in the content materials and a percentage of 75% with good category in the media quality. The initial field trial obtains a percentage of 78.5% with good category, while the main field result is 92.8% with excellent category from guidance and counseling teachers. SIKAP as the final product of the research is feasible media to overcome academic anxiety of junior high school students.
