Abstract

The objectives of this study are (1) to develop mind mapping media product to assist students in preparing career plans, and (2) to determine the effectiveness of mind mapping media for student career planning. This type of research is Research and Development (R & D) using the ADDIE design, namely analyze, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects were 10 students of class X at SMKN – 2 Godean with certain considerations. The data collection technique should be 1) interview and observation (need analysis), 2) Scale (to validate the product), 3) questionnaire (student response). The data analysis technique was based on a percentage formula and gain score. The results of the study show (1) mind mapping media is very feasible to use in terms of material, media, and field tests. There are 3 mind mapping media and it is equipped with a user manual. Each mind mapping media discusses self- knowledge, career exploration, and choosing a career. (2) Mind mapping media is effective to help students in career planning at SMKN – 2 Godean, this is based on the posttest average score greater than the pretest and the gain score which indicates the medium category. So it can be concluded that mind mapping as a media is very feasible and effective to help students in career planning at SMKN – 2 Godean, Yogyakarta.
