Abstract
Individual rational emotive behavior counseling is a service provided to students to change irrational beliefs into rational beliefs so that they can develop and improve self-concepts of research subjects. The study aims to determine the effectiveness of individual counseling to improve the students’ self-concept with the "Rational Emotive Behavior" technique. This research is single subject experimental design with quantitative study. The population in this study were students who were administratively registered actively in class X learning majoring in Marketing at SMK N 1 Depok and had a negative self-concept. The sampling technique using purposive sampling, obtained samples in the experimental group of 6 students. Data collection is done using a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis techniques using Wilcoxon test with a significance level of 5%, the test uses SPSS version 25.0. The data analysis showed improvement of students’ self concept score. The average pretest value was 114.33 and the average posttest value after getting treated with rational emotive behavior was 215.83 This average value indicates that the average posttest of students’ self-concept tends to be higher than the average pretest of students' self-concept. The data analysis using Wilcoxon evidenced by the Zcount value of -2.201 and showed the level of significance was less than 0,05 (p = 0.028 <0.05). Thus, individual rational emotive behavior counseling was effective in improving self-concept of students.
