Abstract

This study aims to: (1) produce a training model to improve teh communication skills of junior high school students, (2) produce a proper training model to improve the communication skills of junior high school students, and (3) produce an effective training model to improve communication skills of junior high school students. This research is a research and development that uses the development of the Borg & Gall model, which carries out 9 stages: Initial research and information gathering, planning, initial product development, expert conceptual testing, revision of expert conceptual trials, practitioner conceptual trials, revision of product trials. practitioner conceptual trials, operational trials, and final product revisions. The subjects of the expert conceptual trial were one material expert and one media expert, the conceptual test for practitioners of three guidance and counseling teachers or counselors, and the operational test of 9 students. The feasibility of the training model product is validated by material experts and media experts and involves guidance and counseling teachers or counselors. The effectiveness test was carried out by measuring the difference in the pre-test and post-test scores. Collecting data using interviews, questionnaires, scales and observations. The data analysis was conducted using descriptive quantitative. The results of this study indicate that (1) produce a training model called the Communication Skill Training Circle which consists of four stages of analysis, the Group Guidance stage, the Simulation Game stage, and the Evaluation stage. The resulting product is a guide consisting of six parts: Chapter I Introduction, Chapter II Communication Skills, Chapter III Training Model to Improve Student Communication Skills, Chapter IV Training Model Guide, Chapter V Closing, Bibliography, and Appendix, (2) results assessment of media experts with a percentage of 84% is categorized as very feasible, assessment of material experts with a percentage of 88.46% categorization is very feasible, 3 guidance and counseling teachers or counselors with a percentage of 89% categorization is very feasible, and (3) the training model is effective to use because of sig 0.008 <0.05, then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, that is, there is a difference between the pretest and posttest scores which means that the effective treatment of students' communication skills.
