Abstract

This research was aim to explain and describe connotative meanings in short story of Djaka Lodhang magazine from January to March 2014. This research explains the kind of connotative meaning, the function of connotative meaning, and the meaning of connotative meaning in the short story of Djaka Lodhang magazine in January-March 2014. The type of this research is descriptive research. The data in this research is a word that contains connotative meaning and data source used is short story of Djaka Lodhang magazine in January-March 2014. Data collection in this research using reading technique and writing technique. The data in this research were analyzed using early stage and advanced stage then Dr. Mulyana, M.Hum. Makna Konotatif wonten explained by descriptive technique. Validity used in the research is semantic validity and reliability used is the reliability of intrarater and interrater reliability. The results of this study explain the type of connotative meaning, the function of connotative meaning and the meaning of connotative meaning in the short story of Djaka Lodhang magazine in January-March 2014. The connotative meaning of this research is six, namely: high connotation, friendly connotation, malicious connotation, inappropriate connotation, rough connotations, and hard connotations. The connotative meaning function in the short story of Djaka Lodhang magazine in January-March 2014 is the meaning of high connotation serves to make the speech become more beautiful and more subtle. The meaning of friendly connotation serves to make the speech more polite and more familiar. The meaning of milicious connotations serves to make speech more subtle. Inappropriate connotations do not deserve to work to address disagreement or dislike toward others. Rough connotations work to show anger to others.
