Abstract
This research discusses about address in Dampelas language in Dampelas Sub-district, Donggala Regency, one of regional language in Indonesia, which is now almost extinct. The purpose of this research is to describe (1) address terms based on referents, (2) social factors affecting the use of address terms, and (3) the function of address in Dampelas language in Dampelas Sub-district, Donggala Regency. This research is a qualitative descriptive study, using a sociolinguistics approach. it was conducted in Dampelas Sub-district. The subjects in this research were native speakers of Dampelas language, while the objects in this research were speech forms of words and phrases containing address terms. The data collection process was carried out by using simak method with the technique of listen conversation without participating (SBLC), interviews, and taking notes techniques. The instrument used includes interview guidelines, recording devices and researcher as human instruments. To find the form of address terms and social factors that affecting address terms in Dampelas language the researcher used descriptive method, then to analyze the function of address the researcher used padan method and followed by the S-P-E-A-K-I-N-G The validity data of the research was obtained from expert judgment. The result is as follows: 1) the address terms based on referents in Dampelas language consists of kinship and non-kinship relations. Those of kinship relations are direct and indirect relatives, and those of non-kinship relations consist of (a) pronouns, (b) traditions field, (c) religious field, (d) positions / professions, (e) self names, (f) social status and (g) general address. 2) The social factors affecting address terms consist of (a) kinship relationship, (b) position / profession, (c) social status, (d) age, (f) situation, and (g) gender. 3) Function of address terms consists of (a) 37 conative functions and (b) 19 phatic functions of 56 address terms found in Dampelas language. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that address terms in Dampelas language consist of various form and affecting social factors, and each form has a function.
