Abstract

This study aimed to find out the effect of the garengpung (Dundubia manifera) sound exposure peak frequency manipulation (4,50±0,05)103 Hz on the corn’ (Zea mays L.) stomata aperture area, growth, and the productivity and to determine the sound strength for the corn productivity. This study employed the sound color of garengpung ( Dundubia manifera) by the manipulation on the peak frequency (4,50±0,05)103 Hz, in order to validate the sound spectrum of the peak frequency, Octave 4.21 program was used. There were two lands utilized in this study, the experimental land and the control land. This study used the light microscope to examine stomata aperture area during the exposure and after the exposure. To see the result, NIS Element Viewer was used. To measure the width of the stomatal aperture, Image Raster 3.0 with ellipse formulation was used. Moreover, Microsoft Excel 2007 and Origin 6.1 Pro were utilized to analyze the corn' growth involving the stem' length, the number of leaves, stem diameter, amount of flower, amount of cob, and productivity based on the gross weight of the yield. To calculate the sound strength, Sound Level Meter was utilized. From this study, it was found that the width of stomatal aperture before, during, and after the sound exposure was (10,43±0,2) μm2, (27,88±0,2) μm2, and (18,22±0,05) μm2. The average growth of the crop on the last measurement on the 56th day for the experimental and the control crop consecutively were: stem length (136,8±0,5) cm and (54,9±0,5) cm, amount of leaves (12±1) blades and (12±1) blades, stem diameter (1,948±0,005) cm and (2,660±0,005) cm, amount of flower (12±1) stalks and (17±1) stalks, the amount of the cob was the one and two cobs. The productivity of the experimental crop was better than the control crop. The productivity average on the 20 m x 10 m (200 m2) land for the experimental crops from 654 yields was 166.0 kg by the average of 0.25 kg for each crop, meanwhile, for the control crops, 561 crops result in 190.41 kg yields the average of 0.34 kg for each crop. Interval level of sound intensity was on 72,1-79,6 dB.
