Abstract

This research was Research and Development of chemistry instructional media. The purpose of this development research was developing a chemistry instructional medium on the subject matter of solubility and solubility products and determining the quality of the instructional medium produced based on assessments of five chemistry teachers of senior high schools (SMA). This research was a research with the procedural model. The research was conducted in 4 stages including (1) planning stage, (2) organizing stage, (3) implementation stage, and (4) reviews by the consultants, peer reviewers, media experts and assessments of the CD by five SMA chemistry teachers. Research data obtained were data of the process and ones of the medium quality. The process data were in the forms of suggestions which further were used to revise the medium while the data of medium quality were in the forms of qualitative data converted into quantitative data. Quantitative data were then tabulated and analyzed using the guidelines of ideal assessment categories to determine the quality of this medium. The chemistry instructional medium was developed through 4 stages including the planning stage, the organizing stage, the implementation stage, and the assessment stage of the chemistry instructional medium. The instructional medium consisted of the introduction, materials, and conclusion. Based on the assessments of the five chemistry teachers, the medium had a very good quality (SB) with an average score of 87.6 which was above the ideal score of 80 and had the ideal percentage of 87.6%. Therefore, it is feasible to use the medium as an alternative instructional medium for teachers.
