Abstract

This study aims to improve the social skill of grade VIII F students of MTs Sunan Pandanaran through sociodrama techniques. This study was classroom action research carried out in three cycles using Kemmis and Taggart model. Each cycle consisted of four stages, namely planning, action, observation and reflection. The subjects of this study were 30 grade VIII F students of MTs Sunan Pandanaran. The type of the action taken was sociodramas techniques that include games, sociodramas implementation, discussions.. The data collection method used was the scale and observation. The instrument used in this study was the scale of social skills and observation guides. The analysis of the data used in this research was the analysis of quantitative descriptive. The results show that the technique sociodramas which includes games, sociodramas implementation, discussions can improve the social skills of grade VIII F students of MTs Sunan Pandanaran. The pre-actions performed by distributing scales shows social skill of the students is still low. In the first cycle consisting of three actions, only 13% of students have a high social skill. In the second cycle consisting of three actions the result, increased to 43% of students that have high social skill. In the third cycle consisting of three actions, 80% of the students have high social skills and have reached the target. These results are strengthened by the observation of subjects showing the increased social skills of pre-actions indicating the students are able to express opinions, can manage emotions well, are able get along well with all their friends, and can behave assertively.
