Abstract

This research aims generally at improving the student’s learning achievement and teacher’s ability in implementing teaching process, while specifically it aims at finding out the effectiveness of using visual media to improve the student’s learning achievement in the first grade of Welding Technique Major in SMKN 1 Sedayu during the learning process in Brazing subject with computer aid. The research design in this research is Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. There are two variables in this research those are independent variable that is power point and dependent variable that is the student’s learning achievement. The subject of this research is 69 students consisting of 36 students as experimental group (X TP B) and 33 students as control group (X TP A). The data collecting technique uses multiple choices. The tests implemented are pretest and posttest. The data analysis technique used is t-test for separated groups. T-test is used to find out the difference of learning achievement levels in Brazing subject. Based on the research result, it can be concluded that (1) There are differences between the student’s learning achievement using power point visual media and that without using power point visual media or using lecturing method and writing in the class in Brazing subject of the students in Grade X of Welding Technique Major in SMKN 1 Sedayu. It is showed by the analysis of the student’s test result that is tested by t-test. It is obtained that tcount > ttable (3.847 > 3.460), (2) the learning achievement in Brazing subject of students in Welding Technique Major in SMKN 1 Sedayu: the average pretest score of control class amounts to 18.21 and the average posttest score amounts to 20.91; while in experimental class the average pretest score amounts to 18.78 and the average posttest score is 22.86.
