Abstract
THE INFLUENCE OF AUDIO VISUAL MEDIA LEARNING ON STUDENTS’ MOTIVATION AND ACHIEVEMENT IN THE 11th GRADE OF THE MECHANICAL AND AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING CLASS AT SMK MUHAMMADIYAH 4, KLATEN TENGAH By: SANDRA OKTADINATA NIM 09504247011 ABSTRACT This research aims to the following: (1) to comprehence the learning motivation among students in the class that use learning-audio visual media and that does not; (2) to understand the different of achivement among student in both classes. It is experiment research which used Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population of this research was the students of two classes of the 11th grade SMK Muhammadiyah 4, Klaten Tengah, majoring Mechanical and Automotive Engineering. It consists of 50 students. We used this population as the research object because it less than 100 students that are possible to be approached by the population research. Research instruments here involve questionnaire and multiple choice tests. In order to confirm the validity of the instruments, we consult to the expert (expert judgment) and use construct-validation with the Parson’s Product Moment formula and bi-serial correlation. The reliability of such instruments are measured by the Alpaha Chronbach formula with questionnaire reliability coefficient 0,846 and test reliability coefficient 0.856. Prerequisite of the data normality utilizes the Kolmogorov Smirnov formula and homogenity that are measured by the One-Way Anova formula. To confirm the hypothesis, the data analysis here uses the inferential parametrical statistics that is the Independent Sample t-test using computer programs of SPSS 17.00. Output of this research showed that (1) learning motivation of the students with audio visual media is higher than those without audio visual media. It is obviously confirmed by the t-test results, thit= 2.356 and ttabel 5%= 1,667 and p= 0.023 for the respective class; (2) the achievement of students with audio visual media is much higher than that of students without audio visual media. It is demonstrated by the t-test result, that is thit= 5,150 and ttabel 5% = 1,667 with p= 0,000. From this output of this research we can make decision that audio visual media influences motivation dan learning achievement. Key Words: learning-audio visual media , motivation, learning achievement.
