Abstract
This research purposes to know (1) the difference of high order thinking skill through cooperative learning model with type TPS with direct instructional, (2) the difference of increses of high order thinking skill through cooperative learning model with type TPS and direct instructional. The method was used in this experiment is quasi experimental, with pretest-posttest group design. The population of this research are student of MAN Yogyakarta III in grade X. We use nonprobability purposive sampling to take the sample, consisting of 30 students in X IPA 2 as experiment class and X IPA 5 as control class. Technique to collect data use pretest and posttest. To examine the instrument we use QUEST program and to examine the analyze prerequisite use normality test and homogeneity test. Whereas to examine the hypotheses we use independent sample t test and to know the increases of high order thinking skill we uses gain value. The result of research shown that (1) there a difference of high order thinking skill of student between cooperative learning type TPS with direct instructional. Student that use cooperative learning type TPS better than direct instructional (2) Based on gain value, the increase of High order thinking of students with cooperative learning with type TPS better than direct instructional, so that we could said there were the significant different of high order thinking skill.
