Abstract

This study aims to reveal: (1) the condition of principal leadership, teacher engagement, and school atmosphere at vocational secondary schools in Yogyakarta City; (2) the Influences of principal leaderships on the school effectiveness, the Influences of teacher engagements on the school effectiveness, and the Influences of school atmosphere on the school effectiveness; (3) the collective Influences of principal leaderships, teacher engagements, and school atmosphere on the school effectiveness of vocational secondary schools in Yogyakarta City. The method used in this study is ex-post facto of the quantitative method with the techniques of statistical calculation and regression analysis. The subjects of the study were 123 respondents from SMK Negeri 2 Yogyakarta and 38 respondents from SMK PIRI 1Yogyakarta. The data were collected using questionnaires employing closed ended questions, using a Likert scale with four response options consecutively. The sampling technique used was Krejcie, R. V. Morgan, D. W. the table of Isaac & Michael with an error of 5%. The hypothesis of the study was tested using the regression analysis with SPSS v.18. The results of the study are as follows. (1) The principal leadership at vocational secondary schools is in the very high category, as much as 73%, teacher engagement at vocational secondary is in the very high category, as much as 69.6%, school atmosphere is in the very high category, as much as 74.5%. (2) The Influences of principal leaderships on the school effectiveness is positive and significant, with sig < 0.05, teacher engagements on the school effectiveness is positive and significant, with sig < 0.05, and school atmosphere on the school effectiveness is positive and significant, with sig < 0.05. (3) The influences of principal leadership, teacher engagements, and school atmosphere effectiveness together on vocational secondary school are positive and significant, with sig < 0.05.
