Abstract
DEVELOPING AUTOBODY BOOK LEARNING MEDIA AS A FOREIGNTERMS DICTIONARY OF AUTOMOTIVE BODY REPAIR FOR AUTOMOTIVE BODY REPAIR ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT STUDENTS OF SMK N 2 DEPOK SLEMAN By: Nur Kholiq NIM. 10504241013 ABSTRACT This research aims to: (1) produce Autobody Book learning media as a foreign-term dictionary of automotive body repair, (2) To know the appropriateness of Autobody Book learning media (3) to know students’ responses toward the Autobody Book learning media. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) method by referring to the 4D model (define, design, develop, disseminate) which is developed by Thiagarajan. Analysis of the need was held in July to September 2013 while the process of developing was held in October 2013 to January 2014 in a automotive body repair engineering department of SMK N 2 Depok Sleman. The researcher done stages of research as follow: (1) analysis of the need (2) designing the initial products (3) eligibility test of the first phase by the experts and body-repair teachers (4) Product revision of the first phase (5) eligibility test of the second phase by the experts and body-repair teachers (6) small-group trial to five automotive body repair engineering students of eleventh grade, (7) Product revision of the second phase (8) medium-group trial to ten automotive body repair engineering students of twelve grade, (9) Product revision of the third phase (10) field trial to 32 automotive body repair engineering students, (11) final revision. Data analysis of developing product in the form of suggestions and critiques from the experts and teachers are used to revise the products. Data quality product in the form of quantitative data which later, converted into qualitative data. The results of this research are: (1) producing Autobody Book learning media as a foreign-term dictionary of body automotive repair by 363 terms of foreign vocabularies within the A6 (110 x 148 mm) book. (2) The results of eligibility test by the matter experts, media experts, linguists and teachers body automotive repair got a good scale by 3,24 from the matter aspect, as well as the functional and benefit aspect which scored 3,28 to be categorized in a good scale. While the aspect of media selection obtain 3,28, graphic aspect gain 3,30, grammar aspect score 3,44 and language aspect obtain 3,11. All those numbers mentioned above categorized in a good scale, except the grammar aspect for a very good scale respectively. (3) Test results of students' responses to Autobody Book learning media by the tenth grade of automotive body repair engineering SMK N 2 Depok Sleman students in the even semester 2013/2014, deserved 3,19 viewed by the aspect of learning material, grammar aspect scores 3,02, graphic aspect 3,16, aspect of function and benefit 3,25 and media selection obtain 3,27 respectively.
