Abstract

Pembelajaran IPS di kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Godean masih terlalu sering menggunakan metode ceramah (konvensional). Hal tersebut berdampak pada rendahnya hasil belajar siswa. Masih banyak siswa yang nilai ulangan hariannya di bawah KKM (75) yaitu mencapai 60% dari 73 siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar antara metode Giving Question and Getting Answer dengan metode ceramah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi eksperimental. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas VIII SMP N 2 Godean. Pemilihan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, yaitu kelas VIII A sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas VIII D sebagai kelas eksperimen. Kelas eksperimen diberi perlakuan dengan menggunakan metode Giving Question and Getting Answer sedangkan kelas kontrol menggunakan metode ceramah. Pengumpulan data menggunakan tes dan observasi. Uji Validitas instrumen menggunakan rasional dan empiris. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan uji-t. Perbedaan hasil belajar ditunjukkan dari hasil uji-t post test siswa. Uji-t menunjukkan bahwa nilai t adalah -4,225 dengan signifikasi 0,000 (0,000 < 0,05). Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil belajar kelas yang menggunakan metode Giving Question and Getting Answer dengan kelas yang menggunakan metode ceramah. The implication of this method is the low level of students’ learning achievement. There are many students who got mark under the KKM (75) in formative evaluation. The numbers reach 60% out of 73 students. This research aimed to determine the difference of learning achievement between the use of Giving Question and Getting Answer method and lecturing method. The type of this research is quasi experimental research. The population of this research is the students of grade VIII of SMP N 2 Godean. The samples are chosen by using purposive sampling technique, they are the VIIIA class as a controlled class, and VIII D class as experimental class. The experimental class applied Giving Question and Getting Answer method, while the controlled class applied lecturing method. The data were gathered by using test and observation. The instrument were tested the validity by using rational and empirical. The result of the data was analyzed by using t-test. The difference of learning achievement showed from the result of the t-test of the students’ post test. The t-test showed that the value of the t was -4.225 with the significance of 0.000 (0.000 < 0.05). The result showed that there is a significance difference between the class applying Giving Question and Getting Answer method and the class applying lecturing method.
