Abstract
This research aims to determine the increase in activeness and learning achievement in shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) subject with problem solving learning-methods. This classroom action research with Kemmis and Mc.Taggart modelwas implemented on 38 students of class XI TP 3 SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Bantul.Collecting data using the observation and tests were then analyzed quantitative-descriptively. The research result shows that an increase took place in cycle I and II. An average increase of learning activeness andlearning achievement are respectivelys 9.48%, and 10,44% with 36 students who completed, or equivalent to 94.74%.
