Abstract

Abstract This research aims at finding the effect of library use and reading interest on learning achievement of Mechanical Engineering XI grade students at SMK Negeri Sedayu Bantuk. This ex post facto research was using quantitative descriptive analisys. Subject of this research were XI grade mechanical engineering students consist of 2 class, those are XI TPA and XI TPB. Questionnaire was used to collecting data. Normality and linearity test were used as the requirements analysis test. Descriptive analysis was implemented to describe variables and correlation to verify the hypothesis. The results indicate that: (1) there is positive effect and significant correlation between libraries’ utilization on student learning achievement. This is proven by the value of t count is more than t table (6,642>2,000) and the significance value of 0.000, which is less than 0.05. Effective contribution to the use of libraries on learning achievement is 29,4%. (2) There is positive effect and significant correlation between reading interest on student learning achievement. This is proven by the value of t count is more than t table (7,630>2,000) and the significance value of 0.000, which is less than 0.05. Effective contribution to the use of libraries on learning achievement is 37,3%. (3) There is positive effect and significant correlation between libraries’ utilization and reading interest on student learning achievement. This is proven by F count is bigger than F table (60,238 <3,15) and the significant count is 0,000 which means less than 0,05. Effective contribution from those variables is 66,8%. Keywords: Library’s Utilization, Reading Interests, Learning Achievement
