Abstract

The aims of this research to improve the activity and learning achievement by STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) method on Turning subject at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Bantul. The study on XI TP4 class was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four steps namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The data were obtained through observation and tests. Data analysis was descriptive qualitative. The improvement average of activity, students achievement and The percentage of minimum passsing criterion was 44.44, 13.94 and 34.10%. The way that researchers use to improve student achievement and learning activity is motivated students to actively participate in learning. The researchers also emphasize learning as a process not only results. The teacher give a prize to the most active groups and the best group as motivated to be the best.
