Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the effects of Ayo Bersatu exercise towards the physical fitness level of the students of elementary school. It was expected that this research could: 1) Give correct information for community especially school community as consideration for physical education teachers so that Ayo Bersatu exercise held in the schools could achieve the expected results, 2) draw school managers’ attention especially from policy makers so that they would be more intense in choosing physical activities in schools. This is an experimental study. It used Pre Test – Post Test Control Group Design. The population involved 65 students of Sekolah Dasar Ngipikrejo grade 4, 5, and 6, Banjararum, Kalibawang, Kulon Progo, Yogykarta consisting of 34 female and 31 male students. The samples were all the populations so that it was population research. The samples were divided into two groups, namely the experiment group and the control group in ordinal pairing. The research variables were: 1) the independent variable was Ayo Bersatu Exercise; 2) the dependent variable was the status of physical fitness. The research instrument used in this study was the Indonesia Physical Fitness test year 1999 for 10-12 years old children. The test consisted of the 40-meter run test, hanging on flipped elbows, 30-second lies and sits, vertical jump, and 600-meter run test. The data were analyzed using t-test. The results of Kolmogorov – Smirnov Test were Z count = 0.877 with p = 0.425. Because p > 0.05, it can be inferred that the test distribution was normal. To test the hypothesis, the researcher used F-test. The F-test resulted in the F value of 0.000, with p = 1.000. Because p > 0.05, it can be inferred that the research groups were homogeny or perfect. The results of the hypothesis test were: 1) on the experimental group, the value of t count was 21.638 with p = 0.000 which implies that there were significant differences between the pre test and the post test. Thus, there were significant effects of Ayo Bersatu exercise towards physical fitness of elementary school students. And 2) on the control group the t count was -1.072, with p = 0.293 which implies that there were no significant differences between the pre test and the post test. Therefore, it can be concluded that Ayo Bersatu exercise could significantly increase the physical fitness of elementary school students. Keywords: Ayo Bersatu exercise, children’s physical fitness
