Abstract
This research is aimed at revealing the condition of facilities and infrastructures in SMPs and SMAs in Yogyakarta. This is a survey research using observation on each school as the data collecting method. The population of this research involved all junior high schools (SMP and MTs) and senior high schools (SMA, SMK, and MAN) whether state or private schools in Yogyakarta. The samples taken for this research involved 48 junior high schools and 43 senior high schools in Yogyakarta. The samples were determined through incidental sampling. The research instruments used in this research were observation sheets. The data were analyzed through percentage. The result of this research showed that the condition of facilities and infrastructures on each SMP included tools 58,33%, equipment 33,33%, and facilities 22,91%. For SMA/SMK/MAN, the percentage of tools was 51,16%, equipment was 32,55%, and facilities was 20,93%. The condition of tools, equipment, and facilities was not sufficient to support the ideal learning process of physical education compared to the number of the students. The result of this research could only be generalized on each school. Keywords: facilities and infrastructures, physical education
