Abstract

The research is inspired by the problems that some coaches often emphasize exercise on physical, technical and tactical things only, so some mental exercises such imagery trainings with meditation are always neglected, so if this training is not applied, it will cause problems in the mental factor of archery athletes. The objective of this research is to figure out if there is any difference on the imagery training with meditation for the accuracy in the range of 18 meters indoor. This research was experimental research with the research design employed two group pretest-posttest design. The sample and the population in this study were the archery athletes of Banyuasin (South Sumatera) for about 12 athletes, then it was done an ordinal pairing with classifications based on the pre-test scores in the range of 18 meters indoor, so it was divided into two groups: group A (Imagery) and group B (Meditation) then it was done the treatment as much as 16x and at the end of the treatment it carried out post-test on the accuracy of the archery in the range of 18 meters indoor. The data analysis techniques were done by conducting tests to determine the prerequisite of normality and homogeneity of the population variants so that t test was able to use to analyze the data. The results of the study will be described based on the increase for both groups pre-test, post-test, and the increasing result of these two groups. The group A gains the pre-test with the mean value at 181.1 and the post test with the mean value at 190.3 so the increasing mean value from pre-test to post-test with the value at 9.166. Whereas, the group B gains pre-test with the mean value at 182.3 and the post-test with the mean value at 190.5 and the increasing mean value from pre-test to post test is at 8.166. Based on the comparison of the mean improvement, it can be concluded that the imagery training gets the greater improvement compared to the meditation training, it means that there is a significant relationship between imagery training and meditation to the accuracy in archery in the range of 18 meters indoor on the archery athletes of Banyuasin (South Sumatra). T test is used to determine the differences in imagery training with meditation on archery athletes of Banyuasin in the range of 18 meters indoor shooting. It shows that tcalculated <t table = -0.10 <2.22 with a significance level at 0.08%. Thus the null hypothesis (Ho): there is no difference between the imagery training and the meditation on the accuracy in the archery in the range of 18 meters indoor for the archery athletes of Banyuasin (South Sumatra). Keywords: Imagery training, meditation, accuracy in archery in the range of 18 meters indoor
