Abstract

This study intends to: (1) find out the percentage of the dominant energy necessity in PencakSilat fighting bout for male and female athletes in 5thPencakSilatInter College National Championship in 2014 held at GadjahMada University, (2) figure out the percentage of the dominant energy necessity in PencakSilatmale fighting bout at 5thPencakSilat Inter College National Championships in 2014 held at GadjahMada University, and (3) determine the percentage of the dominant energy necessity in PencakSilatfemale fighting bout at 5thPencakSilat Inter College National Championships in 2014 held at GadjahMada University. This study was a descriptive study with a survey method. The data collection techniques employed direct observation by means of recording the game using the camcorder. The population and the sample in this research were male and female athletes who attended in 5thPencakSilat Inter College National Championship in 2014 held at GadjahMada University, with a total of 31 matches in this competition. The sample selection was done by using purposive sampling, which was the sampling technique with particular data source or purposive sample. The selective sample in this study was the matches in the semi-final round and the final round. The samples that were used as the research data were 19 matches of male fighting bout and 12 matches of female fighting bout. The instrument employed in this research was the observation sheet and the camcorders. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques described in the form of a percentage. The results of this study indicate that: (1) the dominant energy used in both male and female fighting bouts are alactic anaerobic system with an average working time of 2.82 seconds, the percentage of energy use ATP-PC 79.02%, 10.98% LA-O2 and O2 10%, (2) the dominant energy used at the male fighting bout isalactic anaerobic system with an average working time of 2.81 seconds, the percentage of energy use ATP-PC 79.59%, 10.41 % LA-O2 and O2 10%, and (3) dominant energy used in female fighting bout is alactic anaerobic system with an average working time of 2.83 seconds, then the percentage of 78.09% of energy use ATP-PC, 11, 91% LA-O2 and O2 10%.
