Abstract

There is no valid data on aerobic and anaerobic fitness of PAB’s swimmers aged 15-18 years old from Yogyakarta. This study has a purpose in determining the differences in the ability of aerobic and anaerobic power of PAB’s swimmersfor the long range and short range with the age group of 15-18 years old from Yogyakarta. The method used was a survey, the data collection techniques employed test and measurement. The population in this study was PAB’s swimmer with the total of 20 athletes from Yogyakarta. The sampling was taken by purposive sampling, with the following criteria: (1) aged 15-18 years old, (2) males and females, (3) was still actively practicing, (4) was present at the time of the data collection. Based on the criteria, it was found a total of 11 athletes, consisted of 7 male athletes and 4 female athletes. The instruments to measure the aerobic capacity were multistage shuttle swim test with units of cc/kg.bb/mnt and to measure anaerobic power was by freestyle swimming test with the distance of 25 meters with units of seconds. The data analysis employed descriptive quantitative elaborated in percentages. The results show that: (1) The aerobic ability of PAB’s male swimmers in the age group of 15-18 years old in D. I Yogyakarta is in several categories. The swimmer who belongs to the category of "very poor" is at 9.09% (1 swimmer), who belongs to the category of "poor" is at 9.09% (1 swimmer), who are included in the category of “moderate” are at 18.18% (2 swimmers), who are in the category of "good" are at 27.27% (3 swimmers), and who belongs to the category of "very good" is at 0% (0 swimmer), meanwhile the female swimmer who is in the category of "very poor" is at 9 , 09% (1 swimmer), who belong to the category of "poor" are at 18.18% (2 swimmers), who is in the category of "moderate" is at 0% (0 swimmer), who are included into the category of "good" are at 18.18% (2 swimmers), and who belongs to the category of "very good" is at 0% (0 swimmer). (2) The ability of anaerobic power of PAB’s male swimmers in the age group of 15-18 years old in D. I Yogyakarta isin several categories. The swimmer who belongs to the category of "very poor" is at 0% (0 swimmer), who are in the category of "poor" are at 27.27% (3 swimmers), who belongs to the category of "moderate" is at 9, 09% (1 swimmer), who are included into the category of "good" are at 27.27% (3 swimmers), and who belongs to the category of "very good" is at 0% (0 swimmer), meanwhile the female swimmer who is in the category of "very poor" is at 9.09% (1 swimmer) , who belong to the category of "poor" are at 18.18% (2 swimmers), who is in the category of "moderate" is at 0% (0 swimmer), who are included in the category of "good" are at 18.18% (2 swimmers), and who belongs to the category of "very good" is at 0% (0 swimmer).
