Abstract

This research aimed to (i) build a data acquisition for vacuum measurement on vacuum system of Cyclotron DECY-13, so it could be displayed in a real time and (ii) build an automation system for vacuum system of Cyclotron DECY-13 operation devices in order to make the machine work optimally with the vacuum level maintained at 10⁻⁶ Torr. This research was performed using Super PLC T100MD 1616+ as the central of vacuum system automation. Designed system were a data acquisition vacuum level and automation of vacuum system operation. Data acquisition of vacuum level used pirani sensor, penning sensor, and vacuum meter as signal conditioner with voltage range 0 volt to 10 volt. Vacuum level of vacuum system was used as a feedback based on the set point value for automation operation of vacuum system such as turn on and turn off vacuum system devices in the range 760 Torr to 3x10⁻⁶ Torr. A vacuum level set point used were 2x10⁻² Torr, 1,8x10⁻² Torr and 3x10⁻⁶ Torr. The result obtained from this research was the vacuum data acquisition converted and displayed in real time using PLC by the HMI LCD display so it can display the vacuum level of the vacuum system Cyclotron DECY-13. Automation of vacuum system operation using PLC. PLC acted as automatic controller vacuum system operation according to the set point value of the vacuum level. PLC function was to turn on or to turn off the vacuum devices; they were rotary pumps, diffusion pumps, vacuum valves, cooling and heating flow of the diffusion pumps.
