Abstract

ABSTRACT DEVELOPING SOFT SKILLS ASPECTS THROUGH COOPERATIVE LEARNING IN TURNING LESSON FOR ELEVEN GRADE STUDENTS AT SMK NEGERI 1 GOMBONG By : Muhammad Irfan Arvianto 08503244014 This study is aims to improve student’s soft skills by applying cooperative learning in order that students’s soft skills improvement or development can be done in the classroom teaching and learning process such as commitment, responsibility, coopetative, creatiity and ethics / attitude. It is a classroom action research conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Gombong. Each cycle of the research is started from planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The data analysis is done by comparing the result of observation in cycle I, II, III using descriptive technique. The result of the research shows that cooperative learning can develop the students’s soft skills in the aspect of commitment, responsibility, cooperation, creativity and ethics/attitude by applying some teaching and learning steps: planning cooperative learning strategy, arranging schedule for the action, making lesson plan, setting observation sheet, preparing learning sources, and preparing teaching and learning media, the average soft skills aspects of the students based on cycle I is 53.10 % (medium), cycle II is 61.10% (high) and in cycle III is 64.90% (high). While the result of the observation for commitment aspect are 51% (medium) in cycle I, 63% (high) in cycle II, and 66% (high) in cycle III. For the aspect of responsibility, it is 53% (medium) in cycle I, 59% (medium) and 61% (high) in cycle III. In cycle I, the cooperation aspect is 54% (medium). While in the cycle II and cycle III, the result of the research for this aspect are 70% (high) and 71 (high). The creativity aspect of the students’s soft skills increase from 53% (medium) in cycle I, 58% (medium) in cycle II to 65% (high) in cycle III. The research also shows that the ethics / attitude aspects are 53% (medium) un cycle I, 55% (medium) in cycle II and 62% (high) in cycle III. By considering the overall observation result, it can be concluded that the students’s soft skills can be improved by applying cooperative learning in the class.
