Abstract
This study aims at revealing: (1) English teachers’ attitudes toward post- method pedagogy, and (2) the differences in English teachers’ attitudes toward post-method pedagogy based on related demographic variables, including gender, age, and years of teaching experience. This study is quantitative research in the form of survey design. The participants of the research were 301 English teachers from 126 public junior high schools in Sleman, Bantul, and Kulon Progo who were determined by using purposive sampling. In this study, the paper-based questionnaires were used as the sole instrument of data collection. The questionnaire was adapted from Aboulalaei, Poursalehi, and Hadidi (2016) based on the three parameters of post- method pedagogy namely particularity, practicality, and possibility. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, including Kruskal Wallist tests. The results of the study demonstrate that (1) the English teachers had positive attitudes toward post-method pedagogy; (2) there were no any significant differences in teachers’ attitude toward post-method pedagogy based on their demographic variables such as gender, age, and years of teaching experience. At the end, some recommendations were presented to reinforce their positive attitudes since this pedagogy opens new innovations and encourages the teachers to be creative and follow their own methods well suited for their local classroom conditions.
